The four friends gather for a baby celebration honoring their once free-spirited companion, Laney, now settled in a conservative Connecticut suburb. Carrie finds herself contemplating the idea of motherhood after noticing her tardy period. Miranda perceives the other attendees as members of a motherhood cult. Meanwhile, Charlotte, still searching for love, worries that her aspirations of becoming a wife and mother are fading. In reaction to the traditional gathering, Samantha organizes a "no-baby celebration" to assert her independence.
