Luanne's estranged father, Hoyt, who is also Peggy's brother and a two-time felon, arrives in Arlen. When Hoyt is apprehended while committing another offense, Lucky, feeling a sense of compassion, steps in to take the fall for him. This allows Hoyt to evade consequences and persist in his criminal activities.
