Kahlan and Richard receive a plea for assistance from the head of the resistance, who reports that his followers are mysteriously perishing in what seem to be accidents. Concerned for their safety, they set out to help him. Meanwhile, Zedd takes a trip to see his family to retrieve a crucial item he requires for their mission.
