Episode Overview
PC Dave Litten is temporarily assigned to CID and eager to make a good impression on DI Roy Galloway. Just as they’re about to enjoy a meal at a local pub, they receive a call about a stolen necklace belonging to Lord Barstow-Smythe. Caught in traffic, they hurry through Sun Hill to reach the scene before the “woodentops.” While Galloway and DS Roach are occupied, Litten speaks with a local journalist, earning a mention in the newspaper. Soon after, a mysterious individual contacts him, offering to find the burglars if Litten can persuade the insurance company to pay the reward upfront. The stranger then frames two young boys for the crime, leading to Litten's proud arrest of them. However, Galloway quickly identifies the conman's signature style in the case and scolds Litten for his naivety.
