Episode Overview

Half of the relief team, including CID, is stationed at a hotel to protect a sequestered jury involved in a gangland murder trial. Throughout the night, there are multiple attempts to intimidate the jurors. D.S. Roach and W.P.C. Martella have a heated argument when she catches him flirting with a female juror, and he accuses her of being inattentive. Meanwhile, P.C. Carver and D.C. Dashwood chase a suspicious woman from the parking lot and end up in the swimming pool. They arrest her, but she remains tight-lipped, prompting the Bomb Squad to investigate a bag they find, which surprisingly contains a severed hand. W.P.C. Ackland, grieving her father's death, drinks heavily at the hotel bar and is later discovered by Sgts. Cryer and Penny, who place her in the sauna to help her sober up.
