Episode Overview

P.C. Ramsey and P.C. Smith are assigned to protect a witness, Andrew Pike, in an ongoing court case. Ramsey finds it amusing that Pike holds the police in such high regard and is eager to join as a special constable. Growing restless at the flat, Ramsey persuades Pike to join him for a day at the dog races. While at the track, Ramsey ejects a drunk from the restroom, leading Pike to take issue with his approach and threaten to file a complaint. As Smith steps away for a cup of tea, Pike goes missing, but they manage to locate him just in time. Meanwhile, P.C. Edwards is in court providing testimony for an assault case, but his notes accidentally end up in the toilet, resulting in the case being dismissed.
