Episode Overview

P.C. Pete Ramsey pulls into Sun Hill, narrowly missing P.C. Taffy Edwards with his Porsche and claiming the Chief Superintendent's parking spot. Recently transferred from Barton Street CID due to card cheating, he's now back in uniform. Ch. Insp. Conway warns him to stay out of trouble, but Ramsey quickly falls back into his old habits, accepting a bribe from a street vendor and annoying his colleagues. Meanwhile, Sgt. Alec Peters and P.C. Malcolm Haynes try to arrest sailors from the Royal Navy for vandalizing a nightclub but learn they can’t charge them due to an upcoming naval exercise. D.C. Carver and D.C. Dashwood apprehend two Chinese men with a van loaded with a suspicious substance, which Ramsey later identifies as stolen saffron. After having his car serviced at a garage owned by Sgt. Cryer's acquaintance, Ramsey leaves without settling the bill.
