Hitler: The Rise of Evil (2003)
S01E02 Episode 2
Episode Overview
Following the failed coup on November 9, 1923, Hitler (Robert Carlyle) spent nine months in prison, during which he penned "Mein Kampf." Once released, he turned his attention to political activities through lawful means. By 1932, his NSDAP had become the dominant party in the Reichstag. In January 1933, President Hindenburg (Peter O'Toole) appointed Hitler as Chancellor. After Hitler's death on August 2, 1934, he finally secured total control. Robert Carlyle's portrayal of Hitler stands out as compelling, rivaling the performance of Bruno Ganz.
