Episode Overview

Sapphire and Steel explore the upstairs corridor after Rob spots two spectral soldiers on the landing. Meanwhile, a sentient pool of light has slipped out from Helen's room, hiding within a painting at the top of the staircase. Sapphire unknowingly steps into this snare and vanishes from the house. She manages to communicate weakly with Steel and Rob, revealing that she is trapped in a frigid cottage, feeling an eerie presence lurking nearby. Realizing that Sapphire is imprisoned within the portrait, Steel and Rob race against time to rescue her before it's too late.
