As the community comes together for Des's funeral, Mia arrives from America and forms an unexpected bond with Carol, ultimately moving in with Rob and Sharon, much to their annoyance. Following Chris's menacing behavior, Fran is heartbroken when her boyfriend leaves her, leading her to confront Chris and punch him in the face. Later, Rob finds a tipsy Sharon at a bar and offers her a ride home. However, Sharon's craving for pizza prompts Rob to drop her off, but while searching for parking, another car collides with his. Injured but alert, Rob confesses to Sharon that he has been drinking again and fears the impending breathalyser test from the police.
