Ruth-Anne and Walt decide to take a scenic route home after collecting a pair of oak display cases, but their plans are derailed when their vehicle breaks down. Meanwhile, Shelly embarks on a spiritual quest at the Laundromat, encountering "The Pooper" at various points throughout her life before she gives birth. Joel and Maggie find themselves increasingly exasperated as they put in excessive effort to make their relationship work.
