Episode Overview

Laura Poindexter, a wealthy American visitor, is found dead at the Randolph Hotel in Oxford, initially thought to have suffered a heart attack. However, Inspector Morse suspects that foul play is involved. Laura was set to return a valuable historical jewel to a local museum, which has now vanished. Soon after, Dr. Kemp, a notorious womanizer and historian, dies from a fall, Lucy Downes meets a tragic end in a phone box, and Dr. Kemp’s widow seems to take a lethal dose of Paracetamol. Morse is convinced these incidents are interconnected.
