Marissa, the Social Chair, struggles to organize this year's carnival because of a pesky obstacle in the form of Taylor. Meanwhile, Sandy is taken aback to learn that Kirsten has been discharged from rehab. However, rather than reach out to him, she’s been living with Charlotte, a woman she befriended during her stay. Sandy and Julie sit down with the Dean and Dr. Kim to talk about the future of Ryan and Marissa at Harbor High. Later, Ryan and Marissa have a similar meeting of their own. In another part of town, Jimmy encounters a man and finds himself surprisingly open about his financial troubles.
