Maylene ultimately agrees to take on Ash's challenge. In the showdown, Ash battles with Staravia, Chimchar, and Buizel against Maylene’s Machoke, Meditite, and Lucario. The fight between Buizel and Lucario finishes in a draw, yet Maylene still awards Ash the Cobble Badge.
