Ash and his friends chase after Gligar, who has been swept away by a strong wind, only to encounter Paul. An intense argument erupts between them over their differing approaches to Pokémon care, leading Ash to challenge Paul to a battle. During the fight, Chimchar faces off against Paul's Ursaring, triggering an intense blaze. In the chaos, Chimchar becomes disoriented and begins attacking everything around it indiscriminately.
