As the fall of 2021 ushers in another major big wave season, Garrett McNamara takes on the role of director for the World Surf League’s Tow Surfing Challenge in Nazaré. However, his preparations are thrown into disarray when his pregnant wife, Nicole, and their young children contract COVID-19. This situation adds stress to both the competition and the upcoming birth. When December arrives, Tony Laureano finds himself excluded from the elite lineup. Meanwhile, the surfers face treacherous conditions and harrowing wipeouts, underscoring the vital bonds they share with their jet ski pilots who double as rescuers. Ultimately, Nicole gives birth to their daughter, Fé.
