Episode Overview

In Tampa, FL, the Tate family faces a life-altering crisis. Known for their deep community ties on Davis Island, Tom and Cynthia Tate are cherished figures; Tom co-owns Tate Brothers' Pizza, providing first jobs to many local kids, while Cynthia is deeply involved with the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and the PTA. Their home is a haven for neighborhood children, but on June 12, 2006, tragedy struck when a plane crashed into their house, killing the pilot and their pets. Cynthia was the only one home and miraculously escaped unharmed, but the house was demolished. To complicate matters, a clerical error left them without insurance, leaving them unable to pay off their mortgage or rebuild.
