In Lawton, OK, the Westbrook family undergoes a dramatic transformation. Gene Westbrook, a devoted father to Elizabeth, Katie, and James, bravely served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he sustained a paralysis and earned a Purple Heart. After his medical discharge, he dedicated himself to sharing his story and supporting others in his community. Together with his wife, Peggy, they are cherished figures in their tight-knit neighborhood. However, Gene faced numerous challenges to secure a handicapped-accessible van, which finally granted him the independence to drive again.
