Episode Overview

In early April 2006, a devastating F-3 tornado struck Henderson, TN, the hometown of firefighter Jerrod Hawkins. While Jerrod was stationed at the firehouse, he helplessly watched as the tornado devastated his own home. Inside, Amy bravely shielded her sons, Jair and Cole, in the basement, but she was severely injured when debris collapsed on them. The impact crushed her vertebrae and ribs, punctured her lungs, and caused significant head trauma. Once the storm passed, neighbors discovered Amy and the boys trapped beneath the rubble and called the fire station, where Jerrod had to guide them through performing CPR on his own wife.
