Iris receives a call from Vernon to come to the farm for her proficiency test, but the massive threshing machine unexpectedly knocks her to the ground. In a fit of determination, Connie challenges Vernon to a ploughing contest between the farmers and the land girls. Meanwhile, Channing tries to comfort Joyce, emphasizing that John requires her support. After visiting Henry at the church, Connie is taken aback to find Danny conversing with him.
