In a twist of fate, Gino reached out to a faraway relative who worked at the phone company, leading to the Endicotts finally receiving their own telephone line. However, this newfound convenience came with drawbacks: neighbors frequently exploited the line, leaving the grocer frustrated as his own phone remained underused and forgotten.
