Episode Overview

In 62 BC, much of England was dominated by Roman rule. Queen Boudica was wed to King Prasutagus of the semi-autonomous Iceni tribe in the east. Upon his death, he left half of his kingdom to Boudica and their two daughters, while the other half was given to Emperor Nero to maintain peace with Rome. Underestimating her strength, the Romans brutally flogged Boudica, assaulted her daughters, and seized her lands. Fueled by rage, Boudica took up arms, united her Iceni warriors, and embarked on a fierce campaign against their oppressors.
