Malik's close friend, Kevin, suffers an accident while visiting the Paynes, leaving Malik terrified at the thought of losing him. In a separate storyline, Calvin lands a new position but quickly finds himself out of work after offending his superior. He eventually takes a job at the local barbershop, trying to get back on his feet.
