Pepe the Frog was born in 2005 as an adorable character in the indie comic Boy’s Club on Myspace. However, he has since transformed into a global symbol of hate after being co-opted by the alt-right. The documentary Pepe the Frog: Feels Good Man chronicles the journey of Pepe's creator, artist Matt Furie, as he strives to reclaim his beloved character from the sinister forces that appropriated him. As memes featuring the chill frog began to spread rapidly online, Pepe fell into the hands of the controversial forum 4chan, where he was corrupted with swastikas and racist rhetoric, even becoming entwined with Donald Trump's presidential campaign.
