Dharma's laid-back nature and nurturing side are put to the test when her niece Jennifer, a defiant teenager, arrives for the holiday season and quickly takes advantage of their bond. During a quirky shopping excursion with Jane, where they pretend to be German tourists who speak no English, they are shocked to find out that Jennifer has exploited their act as a disguise for shoplifting. Tensions escalate when Dharma learns that Jennifer has secretly invited a boyfriend over, prompting her to impose strict consequences. Feeling cornered, Jennifer decides to flee.
