Ray is eager for freedom in love, while Alex is experiencing it firsthand. Jill, on the other hand, is keeping her affections to herself, and Hugo is prohibited from contemplating a certain aspect of it. The rest of the group embraces their liberation, including Alex's mother, who seems to embody the spirit of the times.
