Episode Overview

Bernie finds out that Jordan has taken his cherished Redd Foxx ticket stub for the school time capsule, leaving Bernie without a personal item to contribute. He opens up to Jordan about his difficult childhood, revealing how his father abandoned them and emphasizing the importance of resilience in tough times. However, Bernie's honesty seems to harden Jordan's spirit, leading Bernie to feel he's gone too far. To mend things, he fabricates a story, convincing Jordan that his father left behind a memento from his days as an Army sergeant. When Vanessa learns of Bernie's deception, she is initially furious but ultimately agrees that Jordan deserves a positive memory of their father. She then offers Jordan the only photo she possesses of their father, helping him forge a genuine connection to his heritage.
