In the series finale, a petition circulated to reinstate open visits, which had been banned by Stubberfield due to concerns over drug issues. Yvonne planned to persuade Sylvia to sign by organizing a Gospel choir, and in the end, Sylvia reluctantly agreed, primarily to escape the awful music. Shell warned Fenner that she could "fix" him just as she did with Lorna Rose, which enraged him, leading him to slam her head against a wall. To win back his favor, she wrote a mysterious letter to Mrs. Fenner, leaving its contents unknown until the next series. Meanwhile, Monica attempted suicide by taking drugs, but Nikki intervened, choosing not to inform Helen to protect Monica's upcoming appeal. After successfully winning her appeal, Monica gave an emotional speech on television about women's experiences in prison, moving even the toughest inmates to tears. Helen rushed from the courtroom to the tailor's, where Sean was trying on his wedding suit.
