Unlike other cable-laying ships that need an additional vessel to ferry one end of their cables to the shore, the Stemat Spirit has a unique method. She comes in during high tide and rests on the sand as the water lowers. Once the tide comes back in, she rises and sets off into the ocean, laying her cable along the way.
