Cheryl's mother is set to visit for the holidays and plans to stay with them, but both Jim and Cheryl would rather she booked a hotel. Unsure how to address this without hurting Maggie's feelings, they struggle to find the right words. When Jim accidentally mentions Cheryl's preference for a hotel, Maggie gifts her grandmother's pearl necklace to Dana. Distressed, Cheryl rushes to the airport to seek her mother's forgiveness, only to discover that Dana received the necklace due to her loneliness, unlike Cheryl’s relationship with Jim. Meanwhile, the girls mistakenly believe Andy is Santa Claus.
