The Marfia is determined to eliminate Steed, who poses a threat to their profitable drug smuggling between Britain and North America. They set up an assassination attempt on him, but Steed manages to escape unharmed. He follows the trail of his would-be assassin to a circus, where he discovers that some of the clowns are far from the jovial performers they appear to be.
