During an outing, Arrietty is spotted by a young boy who lives in the house. Unlike most adults, he isn't frightened by the borrowers. However, his innocence eventually causes complications. Initially, Arrietty takes the opportunity to ask him to take a letter to a location where she hopes to find another family of borrowers.
