Ben Fogle: New Lives In The Wild (2013)
S02E01 Georgia Swamplands
Episode Overview
In the debut episode, Ben ventures into the swamplands of southern Georgia to stay with 64-year-old Colbert, a former high-powered financier who has swapped his corporate life for a primal existence. Now residing in a self-constructed wooden cabin, Colbert has completely disconnected from modern conveniences, lacking even a bathroom—starkly different from his previous lavish lifestyle. Under Colbert's guidance, Ben acquires essential survival skills for navigating this perilous terrain, such as skinning roadkill, catching frogs, drinking water from the swamp, and constructing a makeshift nest. He also learns that Colbert dabbles in unconventional relationship advice! As Ben confronts the challenges of wilderness living, including oppressive heat and relentless mosquitoes, he begins to fully appreciate the reality of solitude in one of North America’s vastest swamps.
