Hardie visits his friend Curly Brown's ranch, only to discover that Curly has been murdered. His widow is left to cope alone, and Jim starts to grow wary of the potential buyers interested in the property. As he unravels the mystery surrounding Curly's death, he finds himself developing feelings for Etta, Curly's grieving wife.
