Kevin explores the story of an audacious modernist home nestled in the hills of Andalucia, Spain. A decade ago, Gil and Hillary Briffa chose to retire in southern Spain, opting for an untouched plot of land in the mountains over the crowded coast near Malaga, which they purchased for just £35,000. Instead of a traditional finca, their architect son envisioned a striking modern glass box, encased by vibrant, interconnected rooms and shielded by a massive citadel wall. Building the home was fraught with challenges, as they relied on a local builder inexperienced with such designs. The community was not supportive, and even the mayor wanted it painted white. Despite the hurdles, the finished product promised to be an extraordinary retirement haven.
