As Pop acquires the nearby quarry to transform it into a trout farm, Charley contemplates purchasing a hop farm to supply the local brewery. The village buzzes with excitement over the arrival of Pieter, a charming Dane who quickly wins over the townsfolk—though Charley feels a twinge of jealousy towards his wife’s admiration for him. Pieter impresses everyone with his hard work and versatility. However, Charley unwittingly uncovers Pieter’s secret: he’s actually German, masquerading as Danish to avoid post-war animosity.
