Struggling with their finances, the Ingalls decide to relocate near Mary, who is now a teacher at a school for the blind. Settling nearby allows the family to support Mary in her work with younger visually impaired students. Meanwhile, Laura discovers a boy named Albert, an orphan, pilfering from their hotel. After getting to know him, Charles befriends Albert and extends an invitation for him to join Mary’s birthday celebration.
