Episode Overview
The students at West Beverly discover a time capsule from 1941 and decide to create their own. Mrs. Scanlon throws a surprise birthday party for Scott, encouraging David to gather the guests. However, only Donna shows real enthusiasm for attending. Kelly, Steve, Brenda, Brandon, and Emily join reluctantly but behave poorly, refusing to engage in any party activities. In an attempt to salvage the celebration, David encourages everyone to dance, but Brandon and Emily sneak away to make out in Scott's little brother's room. Mrs. Scanlon catches them and throws them out, leading the others to leave in a huff. While searching for matches for the cake in his father's den, Scott finds a gun hidden in a locked drawer. He tries to show it to David but accidentally shoots himself in the stomach, resulting in his tragic death. David is overwhelmed by concern from friends and teachers, while Mrs. Scanlon keeps pushing Scott's belongings on him. Donna becomes upset when David seems to dismiss her
