Joe turns down a plea deal and opts for a trial instead. During the proceedings, Donna shares how Ray had been abusing her, and Valerie backs her up with her account of the incident in Palm Springs. Brandon's coverage of the trial gains national attention thanks to the Associated Press. He urges Ray to stop hurting Donna and to come clean about his altercation with Joe. The prosecutor tries to discredit Donna, pointing out her past lies on medical documents. Overcome with guilt, Ray admits to the abuse and clears Joe's name while testifying. Donna agrees to drop charges if Ray commits to therapy. Grateful for Brandon's support, Ray decides to hit the road for a tour. Meanwhile, Lisa, a friend of Donna's, is crowned Rose Queen. Colin looks after Erin while Kelly and David attend the trial, as Mel and Jackie are away for the weekend. Valerie informs Colin that Kelly spent the night with Brandon, leading to a heated argument, which is abruptly cut short when Erin falls
