Episode Overview

Susan receives a nomination for a college journalism award for her piece on a girl's choice to have an abortion. Brandon is puzzled by Jonathan's decision to attend the awards ceremony. Susan clarifies that her breakup with Jonathan stemmed from their differing views on the topic, leaving Brandon even more confused. When Susan wins the award, she becomes emotional during her speech and reveals to Brandon that the story was about her own experience. After her sister's death, she had a drunken night with Jonathan that led to an unexpected pregnancy. Though Jonathan proposed, he was heartbroken when she chose to end it. He offers Susan forgiveness, but she remains uncertain about her choice. Meanwhile, Valerie tries to motivate Colin by arranging a meeting with a savvy art buyer, hoping it will inspire him to get sober and pursue his art. Unfortunately, the buyer ends up purchasing two of Colin's works created while he was under the influence. Kelly vows to quit cocaine, yet finds it hard to resist the lure of temptation.
