Meanwhile, to everyone's surprise, Matt and Caroline continue to spend time together. When Sheriff Forbes informs Damon about another attack, he decides to investigate and uncovers shocking details about the town's founding families. Alaric intervenes during an uncomfortable moment involving Jeremy, Tyler, and Mayor Lockwood.
