When a pregnant loan officer is discovered shot dead in the trunk of her car, Detectives Briscoe and Green initially consider a carjacking or the involvement of her fiancé and co-worker. However, as her premature baby battles for survival in the hospital, their focus shifts to professional basketball player Cris Cody. His connection to the deceased goes beyond the loans she facilitated for him, raising suspicions that he might have had a motive for wanting her and her unborn child harmed.
