Episode Overview

Etienne confronts the weight of his failure, succumbing to a deep despair. While a few, including Maheude, remain determined to resist, the majority choose to return to the mines. Unbeknownst to them, Souvarine has taken a stand by sabotaging the Voreux shaft. As the miners begin their descent the following morning, disaster strikes, leading to a catastrophic accident.
