Amy takes on the case of a severely abused and mentally troubled teenager who has attacked a teacher. Meanwhile, Vincent’s agent secures him a publishing deal, contingent on him finishing another short story within just four days. Maxine steps in to support a young mother overwhelmed with stress and fearful of harming her baby. Lauren tests Amy's patience as she excitedly talks about Michael's new girlfriend. Maxine finds herself with a full house of her children for a week while Vincent moves back in to focus on his writing, and Gillian seizes the opportunity to unwind from the pressures of infertility in her marriage. Inspired by Vincent's short story, Gillian decides to return to Peter and reconsider the possibility of adoption.
