Stuart Collins, acting on behalf of the governor, presents Amy with an opportunity to apply for a position on the appellate court, but only if she rules against two women fighting to be recognized as the mother on their child's birth certificate. Meanwhile, Maxine's friend Vivian experiences the realities of social work when their planned girls' day out is interrupted by a distressed farmer who insists his children should prioritize working on their family dairy farm over attending school. Gillian, grieving her loss, finds comfort in an online support group after Peter fails to provide the support she needs. As Vincent discovers that Carole has a substantial savings, he begins to worry about his financial situation. In the end, Amy reaches out to Rob with an apology, leading to their reconciliation.
