Maxine and Amy struggle to convince anyone that their dinners with Ignacio and David aren’t dates. Meanwhile, Amy faces a tough decision about whether a man in the Witness Protection Program can regain custody of his eleven-year-old son after the boy's mother passes away. Lauren and Victor are displeased to learn that their parents are dating. Maxine is in a race against time to stop a suicide pact among students at a local high school. Shelby's band gets a gig at a bar, and Peter invites his mother and sister to watch him perform, allowing the dynamics between Amy and David, Maxine and Ignacio, and Peter and Shelby to deepen on the dance floor and stage.
