Maxine is on the edge as she clings to Colton Gerard's hotel room, unleashing her fury on Sean for his poor department management. Following an incident where she slapped a foster child who mistreated her elderly foster mother, she finds herself suspended after being arrested. Meanwhile, Vincent gains insight into his own life through the perspective of a teenager in foster care who suffered abuse from his mother. Peter's compliments about Gillian's parenting bring them closer during a meeting with their son’s teacher, only to learn that Ned is biting classmates out of boredom due to his high intelligence. Donna is frustrated when Amy, in an overzealous attempt to help her win her first case, undermines both her and the State's Attorney, jeopardizing support for her mentally ill teenage client. Meanwhile, Amy is troubled by her mother’s arrest and refusal to come home.
