Stefan is taken aback when Lexi, a longtime friend, shows up to celebrate his birthday. Meanwhile, Elena, still reeling from the fallout of the Halloween haunted house, attempts to keep her distance from Stefan. Lexi, however, imparts some unsolicited advice about relationships that Elena finds hard to ignore. Additionally, Elena and Jenna notice a surprising shift in Jeremy's demeanor. At Damon’s urging, Caroline makes an effort to retrieve his medallion from Bonnie. In a shocking turn of events, Damon's offer to assist Sheriff Forbes leads to unforeseen and devastating consequences.
