When Stefan approaches Damon with his concerns about Elena, Damon reluctantly agrees to help him dig deeper. The brothers head to contemporary New Orleans, hoping to uncover memories from their last trip there in 1942, including a former love of Damon’s, Charlotte. Meanwhile, Elena, Caroline, and Bonnie enjoy a girls' night, but tension rises when Elena reveals unexpected news. Encouraged by Hayley, Tyler confronts Klaus' hybrid, Kimberly, and things spiral out of control. Ultimately, Damon finds himself confronted with a devastating choice.
