In Los Angeles, aspiring screenwriter Edward Foster, originally from Indiana, harbors feelings for his neighbor, aspiring actress Miranda Singer. Unfortunately, Miranda, more focused on her ambitions and material gain, ignores Edward. Noticing Edward's infatuation, the sinister landlord Mr. Stronham suggests he use a love potion to win Miranda’s heart. Meanwhile, a sadistic serial killer finds himself in a tight spot when a relentless motorcycle cop hunts him down in the desolate desert. Additionally, an unhappy married couple, Lou and Irene, plot life insurance fraud with Lou's brother Billy, leading to unexpected romantic entanglements and a shocking return.
